These triggers replicate the size* and dynamics of the in-built Roland membrane trigger switches in the CY-14 and CY-15, allowing you to add a choke to your cymbal, in addition to 2nd or 3rd zone, making DIY dual and tri zone cymbals simpler and more reliable than ever before! These triggers are designed specifically for DIY drummers, manufactured in a 3 step factory printing process in Hong Kong to the highest quality standards. This auction/sale is for a singular switch piece – the cymbals used in the photos are for demonstration. Image 1 shows all the available sizes; picture 2 shows recommended edge distance installation; picture 3 example of installed 8 inch trigger for a single zone chokable splash; picture 4 example of a dual zone chokable crash. Please note this product requires tailored installation to your project, as well as some very basic soldering to fix electrical connections (this info can be provided on purchase).

Note: As there is some bend tolerance within the switches. A 16″ trigger can be used for a 15″ diameter cymbal – this varies depending on the exact dimension and angle of the cymbal bow. For exact dimensions please use the contact seller function.

Each membrane trigger switch is a 90 degree arc.
The sizes above are for the diameter of the cymbal, not the length of the membrane.
They can be chained together to give 180 / 270 / 360 degrees coverage, and can be placed over curved surfaces without inhibiting trigger functionality. They can also be cut shorter with no adverse effect to triggering, but this is done at the risk of the buyer. If used as just a choke then the trigger can be mounted on just the underside of the cymbal. If using as an edge trigger and choke then it must be mounted on the top within 2mm of the edge of the cymbal at the centre. Using a small strip of 1/2mm or 1mm thick sticky back foam tape will give the lift required for edge triggering. There are many other methods you can try including using half cut hosing around the edge (which when hit triggers into the channel), or for the more pro DIY’er you could build a similar design to Rolands cymbals where they integrate the raised trigger strip into the cymbal rubber.
This is just a basic outline however – as with all products from Myrk- Instruments full technical and design after sales advice is provided for all customers to assist in your DIY projects. All products are fully tested and quality checked prior to shipping. Switches are delivered in a cardboard non-bend slim packet to prevent damage and keep shipping costs low for customers!
